Remi was a one-in-a-million kind of girl. She was witty, wise, and absolutely beautiful. She was known for her big brown eyes and long, gorgeous eyelashes. Remi was obsessed with cats and had 4 of her own.
She loved playing outdoors and picking wildflowers. She was a creative writer and loved to draw. Remi loved chocolate icing, hot chocolate, banana bread, sprinkle donuts, and Lifesaver gummies. She was an avid player of pretend school, restaurant, and Doctor.
Remi was diagnosed with DIPG at age 6 on August 18, 2022 after an MRI confirmed she had a mass in her brainstem. She was given 4-9 months life expectancy. She had a biopsy, port surgery placement, and started radiation treatments.
After completing 30 sessions of brain radiation, Remi was accepted into a clinical trial in Michigan with Dr. Carl Koschmann, who she loved dearly. She attempted a second round of radiation in May of 2023, but became sick and the treatment was unsuccessful.
On December 7, 2023 at 9:15 pm, Remi took her last breath on Earth after a nearly 16 month battle. Remi chose to continue the fight for a cure by donating her brain and spinal cord to Dr. Koschmann’s lab- so that other kids may have a better outcome in the future. Remi had a Facebook page called “Rally-4-Remi” that followed her powerful journey until the end.
